We’ve all been told that exercising is good for our bodies. If we practice it regularly we will keep in an ideal weight and we will be in shape, besides having a better health. But sport brings us many more things. Do you want to know what benefits we get from exercising regularly?

Exercising is something that everyone can do, regardless of gender, age and physical fitness. There is a wide variety of sports we can do, so choose one or more that you like and start training. What are the benefits of exercising for our health?

You control your weight: regulating our weight helps us prevent obesity, as well as reducing the risk of suffering from certain diseases. Each person should be within their recommended BMI (Body Mass Index), according to their weight or height. We must take into account that a person who wants to be muscular will weigh more than one who wants to lose weight.

You reduce the risk of heart disease: regular exercise strengthens the heart and improves blood circulation, which increases the level of oxygen in the blood. All this helps us prevent heart disease, regulate blood pressure and triglyceride levels.

We control sugar and insulin levels: playing sports lowers blood sugar levels and also helps regulate insulin, which helps control type 2 diabetes.

It helps us to stop smoking: if we smoke, regular training will help us to stop, because we will reduce the feeling of anxiety and withdrawal symptoms that we experience when we are quitting.  

We improve our mental health and mood: by exercising we are encouraging the release of certain hormones that improve our mental health and make us feel better. So, when we finish, we will be more relaxed, in a better mood and have less stress.

We will strengthen our bones and muscles: if we do sport regularly, we will strengthen our bones and reduce the loss of bone density. This strengthens the joints and reduces the risk of falling. It also strengthens and increases muscle mass, which will help us in our daily life to do more complex and more intense exercises.

We will sleep better: by doing sport we will not only sleep more hours, but we will also fall asleep earlier and have a more restful sleep.

We will improve our sexual health: exercise reduces the risk of suffering from erectile dysfunction, in men and if they have that problem, it helps them to improve their sexual function. In women, sport increases their excitement during sex.

It increases life expectancy: many studies have shown that those who train often reduce the risk of dying prematurely from the most common diseases, such as heart disease and certain types of cancer.
